Voters will head to the polls on July 31,2012 to vote on the TSPLOST, which could have an impact of more than $200 million on Paulding County, according to county officials.
2012 Transportation Investment Act Referendum
The Northwest Georgia Regional Commission has approved a list of proposed projects to be funded under a 10 year 1% sales tax. The list includes $164 million for Paulding County projects and involves major corridors improvements such as Macland Road (SR 360), US 278, and Highway 61 (full list below). The referendum questions will be determined by voters on July 31, 2012.
In addition, up to $43 million will be allocated to Paulding County and the Cities of Dallas, Hiram and Braswell for transportation projects selected by each jurisdiction. Currently, Paulding County is considering a broad list of projects.

Pauldings TSPLOST Planned Projects
It never ceases to amaze me that we the people will vote YES for a tax increase. If we continue to vote ourselves tax increases, soon we will be paying the same sales tax as Florida and Tennessee, but well also continue to have the State Income Tax. Even, if this tax is passed, what is to stop us from being charged to use the roads weve already paid for? That is exactly what happened with the I-85 H.O.T. lanes.
Folks, whether you agree with my thoughts on this or not, youve got to get out and VOTE. Go to the polls on July 31, 2012 and make your vote count!
