This morning I would like to share how even the smallest changes in life compounded can make a huge impact.
Choose to brew your own cup of coffee in the morning instead of hitting Starbucks or Peets and you will save around $3 a day, approximately $1,100 a year. Continue with this change for 20 years at an 8% compounded rate of return and you will have saved over $50,000.
Bring a PB&J on wheat and a piece of fruit for lunch to work, instead of going out for lunch. Not only do you add 10 years to your life, but you save $8 a day, approximately $2,000 a year. Again, continue with this change for 20 years and invest it at an 8% compounded rate of return, and you will bank close to $100,000.
Drink water instead of those chemically loaded drinks everyday. Not only will you add 10 more years to your life, but you will save $5 a day, which becomes about $2,000 over a year. Keep this up for 20 years at an 8% compounded rate of return and you will have saved another $100,000.
If you impart the above 3 small changes everyday (each having very little impact on your day-to-day life) over a 20 year period, you would save over a quarter million dollars. Continue for 10 more years, making it 30 years, and you will save near $600,000! If you can discipline yourself to do just these few small things, not only would you be healthier, but will potentially live decades longer and will put over half a million bucks in the bank. All just because you brew your own pot of joe, make your lunch and drink water. Go figure. Seems too simple, doesnt it?
I challenge you to evaluate your life and make additional small changes, applying these same principles to your business, relationships, health, faith, etc. It is the discipline to continue with your changes, day-in and day-out, over a long period of time which creates success.
