Taking Precautions When You Sell Your Home Yourself by real estate expert Craig Summers

Something that a lot of people tend to forget if they are selling their home in themselves are some precautions that they should take to keep both themselves and their belonging safe. What you don’t want to do is to invite all of the local thieves into your house in . Normally your real estate agent will handle a lot of these issues but since you are doing it yourself, keep some of these tips in mind.

Tip #1 – Don’t give out your address

Now I am sure that you are saying well they won’t know I am selling my house in if they don’t know my address. When you are advertising, it is still best not to give out your address. You can put in a phone number or an email address. Make sure that there is some way that the prospect can contact you. You can also ask the prospect to leave a phone number for you to contact them.

Tips #2 – Never do an appointment alone

When you make an appointment for people to come to your home in Dallas, always make sure that there is someone else with you to show your home. This can be someone else in the family or a neighbor or friend.

Do not show your home unless an appointment has been made ahead of time. Ask for identification when making the appointment and then ask for identification when the prospects come to the appointment. If they are really interested in your home in Dallas, they will not have a problem with your precautions. Don’t be afraid to let them be aware of this when you make the appointment.

Tip #3 – Secure Your Valuables

When you show your home there are some further precautions that you want to take. You definitely do not want to leave anything of value out in plain sight. Lock it in a safe or hide it away in a closet or basement.

For your own safety, you also want to make sure that things like baseball bats and iron skillets are put away. If you are wondering why, these can be used as weapons and will be better off put away. Unlock doors so that you can rush out if you need to at any point during the time that you are showing your home. Finally, keep a phone or cell phone with you at all times in case of any type of emergency.
